Eighteen-year-old Kalan Mitchell has always felt like he didn’t belong in the sleepy English village of Pangwell. But when he stumbles upon a glowing orb buried under a Celtic king’s grave, his world quite literally fractures. Marked by ancient beings and pursued by shadowy watchers, Kalan discovers he is a “riftcaster”—a bridge between dimensions. As the veil between worlds begins to tear, Kalan must uncover his true nature, confront the secrets of his heritage, and decide which side of the fracture he stands on—before both realms fall.

Set in rural England, Riftcaster is a grounded, emotionally charged contemporary fantasy that blends folklore, archaeology, and coming-of-age themes. When Kalan discovers a relic, he begins experiencing time slips, voices in forgotten languages, and visions of a crumbling dimension. As reality unravels, he learns that he is the impossible result of a union between a human and an ancient being from another world.

As ancient enemies stir—some desperate to protect the balance, others to exploit it—Kalan is drawn into a supernatural conflict tied to the deepest roots of British myth. But his greatest battle may not be against monsters or magic, but against the creeping doubt that he isn’t strong enough to carry what’s been placed on his shoulders.

Drawing inspiration from Stranger Things, The OA, and His Dark Materials, Riftcaster is a high-concept, character-led fantasy that explores identity, legacy, and the cost of unlocking power that was never meant for you.
